The Dead of Night Once the fight with the Putrefaction Undead is com- plete, the sounds of a scuffle ring out from above, just as the beaten and bloodied body of Scweb crash- es down the stairs. The marra then appears before the party, its claws wet with blood as Gart cries from upstairs. The marra speaks with many voices at once, the sound painful to the ears. It is angry, vengeful, and gloating. “We watched you from the places between realms. We roared when you prevented our entry. But the barriers are frayed. The borders blur. It took us years to crawl our way through the little tears, but no matter. We will make it oh—so—easy.” Scweb coughs, barely conscious but alive as he attempts to crawl his way back up to his son. The marra laughs and attacks the heroes, while the sounds of splinter- ing wood and harsh wind emanate from above.
