Settlements and merchant caravans near the mountains have suffered increasingly brazen raids by bands of ogres and giants. Curiously, the raiders seem less interested in gold and valuables than in mithril, adamantine, and other rare materials. Reports suggest the attackers operate from Khar-Vaelor, an ancient giant stronghold long thought abandoned, where perpetual thunderstorms now rage above its towering walls. Rumors speak of a legendary forge hidden deep within the fortress, once capable of producing weapons and armor of extraordinary power through techniques lost to time. With local authorities offering a handsome bounty to end the raids, the opportunity to confront the giants and perhaps uncover the secrets of their ancient craftsmanship awaits those brave enough to challenge the storm.
